Information building

The building complex consists of a single-storey main hall, with a total surface area of 905 m², and an attached two-storey structure with its original façade facing Paz Street. The main hall is the subject of the intervention proposed in this project, conceived as the starting point of a comprehensive intervention to be developed in successive phases; no intervention is planned for the remaining two-storey annex building.

The main hall, with a single floor, benefits from direct natural lighting and ventilation, featuring gable end walls at both ends and a pitched roof, originally covered with fibre cement sheets and with free water drainage at the eaves.

The construction system of the main hall follows a mixed typology, with a perimeter load-bearing wall supporting the roof trusses, upon which the purlin framework of the roof slopes rests. The trusses are built with timber rafters, while the remaining elements —tie beam, king post, and bars— are made of steel flat bars, with bolted joints and connections. The truss design corresponds to a Polonceau truss, which, due to its large span, incorporates a raised tie beam.

The roof covering material of the main hall consists of corrugated fibre cement sheets, directly bolted to the timber framework.

The main structure and layout of the building reflect the original design, with only minimal maintenance work and minor localized refurbishments carried out inside the building (Full Project. City Council of Alzira).

Recently, a comprehensive rehabilitation of the roof of the main hall was carried out. The previous roofing material (fibre cement sheets) was removed and replaced with a new material offering improved aesthetic quality, enhanced thermal and acoustic insulation, and full waterproofing, including a new system for the collection and drainage of rainwater.

Full Project: Rehabilitation and restoration of the roof of the main hall of the Cucó Warehouse.

Partial Project: Demolition of the secondary structure of the Cucó Warehouse.

Adaptation Project: Multi-purpose hall Cucó Warehouse.
