SMART BUILDING CPI 2020 – PUBLIC PROCUREMENT OF INNOVATION FOR SMART BUILDINGS IN THE RIBERA REGION
The main goal of the SMART BUILDING CPI 2020 project is to use Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI/CPI) to stimulate the creation of innovative clusters that enhance the competitiveness of companies and local authorities in the Ribera de Xúquer region, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The project aims to promote the development of innovative technologies and solutions and their large-scale market deployment in the field of smart buildings, which will serve as the basic unit or energy hub for an energy-sustainable territory through the integration of:
- Nearly Zero‐Energy Buildings (NZEB) according to Directive 2010/31/EU, with high energy efficiency and energy coming mainly from renewable sources produced on-site or nearby.
- Energy charge/discharge stations for electric mobility.
The project will focus on the preparation, design, and launch of a CPI procedure for the construction and/or renovation of a municipal building that meets NZEB criteria, integrates renewable energy production, and allows, wherever possible, interaction with electric vehicles in charge/discharge mode as an electricity storage element and factor of grid sustainability.
The project will enable the identification of innovative solutions and products and the launch of a CPI procedure focused on constructing and/or renovating municipal buildings to achieve an energy-sustainable territory.
Other actions within the project include training activities to create a municipal team specialized in CPI, including a training day on CPI implementation for technical staff and municipal policymakers, mainly those with technical and legal profiles involved in the pilot’s procurement files.
Regarding results dissemination, a thematic workshop presenting project outcomes will be held, targeting public and private stakeholders to explain and promote the CPI procedure.
Finally, the project aims to consolidate the innovative cluster promoting sustainable energy launched with the European project PROMINENT MED, initially including: municipalities of La Ribera, Consorci de la Ribera, Polytechnic University of Valencia, Diputación de Valencia, and AVAESEN.
Moreover, as a driver of R&D+i for the Valencian business sector, the CPI project seeks to improve the public services provided by municipalities to citizens.
The project has been funded by the Agencia Valenciana de la Innovación (AVI) under the Public Procurement of Innovation (CPI) program for 2020-2021, as part of the strengthening and development of the Valencian Innovation System.
