Project Objective: SUSTAINABLE ENERGY MANAGEMENT AT SCHOOL (SEM)
The SEM project aims to train students in vocational education in an emerging sector such as energy efficiency, enhancing their employability, while achieving energy savings in educational centers.

The project implements training programs in efficient energy management and the use of renewable energy for both students and teachers, and highlights career opportunities in the energy and environmental sector.

The project offers an innovative training program structured in the following phases:

1. Development of OERs
Preparation of educational materials in the field of building energy efficiency as Open Educational Resources (OERs). Topics include: energy consumption monitoring, natural and artificial lighting, electrical and electronic appliances, heating, ventilation, insulation, and water.

2. Student Training
Students will use the OERs for theoretical and practical training. Practical training includes three studies to evaluate a building’s energy performance:

  • Perception study: investigates how users perceive comfort (temperature, ventilation, lighting, etc.).
  • Critical study: examines both the building installations and user behavior.
  • Analytical study: performs an energy balance and evaluates the effectiveness of efficiency improvement recommendations.

Training concludes with a final report including study conclusions and proposed measures to improve energy efficiency of the building.

3. Work Placement
Students can apply the knowledge gained from the sem@schools.eu program while gaining real-world work experience.

Participation: 80 educational centers from 5 European countries, involving 1,500 students aged 16–18.

Funding: SEM@schools.eu is supported by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ program.
